What’s more inspiring than getting passed by Wonder Woman 400 times?
Spirits were incredibly high and the mood was certainly festive for the 6th annual Superhero Half and Relay this past Sunday in Morristown. More than 2,100 runners came out and proudly meandered the 13.1 mile course. Most runners were dressed as their favorite caped crusader. Capes, anvils, masks and face-paint were plentiful as the athletes and even many of the spectators donned their favorite superhero costume as well.
The event wasn’t simply about the costumes and fanfare. The race course was a picturesque setting and certainly a challenging one as well. Some early Morris County hills accompanied with humid conditions required the runners to dig deep and channel their inner superhero.
We spoke with several runners afterwards and the feedback was consistent. They all enjoyed the course and the great atmosphere. Mother nature made the day a little extra challenging, but it was still an amazing race.
We also caught up with Race Director Chris Russo (pictured left) who shared “It’s a great day and we love the festive environment here.” Congrats to Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and all the runners who completed this race… an event like no other.
