Race Preview: R U Ready For The Rutgers Big Chill 5K?

The Rutgers Big Chill…one of the great winter races in New Jersey. Don’t believe us??? You can ask the 8300 + participants that have already registered for this year’s race. That number will continue to grow before the starting pistol sounds on Saturday morning in New Brunswick and runners will not be disappointed.

More importantly, the race does amazing things for tons of area children. The entry is a little unique; Instead of a registration fee, runners are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for a child. Last year, the event raised more than 10,000 toys for local children throughout Central NJ and that number is expected to be topped once again. caught up with Anne Finetto, the race coordinator. It’s a Hill… Get Over It!

That’s exactly what 1,000+ runners did this morning at the 14th annual 15k & 5k Navesink Challenge. Another one of NJ’s top races put on by the Jersey Shore Running Club.

Mother nature did her part too. Sunny skies and 50 degree weather is more than we could have asked for on the last day of November.
