Cooler morning temperatures gave way to perfect running weather as 9,000 + runners towed the line at the Monmouth Park Racetrack. The runners carved their way through the streets of the Jersey Shore making their way to the oceanfront finish line in Long Branch. It’s just a few days before the greatest race in New Jersey and we sat down with Joe Gigas, the Race Director for the NJ Marathon and the Long Branch Half. Runner/Comedian Angelo Gingerelli rounded up an amazing team of comics/runners to collectively run the 26.2 mile relay. Following the race, the group will perform at The Show Room in Downtown Asbury Park at 10 PM. The event was a rousing success last year in its inauguration and they plan on topping it this year. Perhaps more importantly, all proceeds go to a great cause in Special Olympics of NJ.
We caught up with the funnyman himself who shared some thoughts on the event. …Read More

Shortly before 8 o’clock the race director announced (to an approximate field of 4,500 runners) that a call was received from “Grammy award winning Taylor Swift” letting him know that “she was not available to sing the national anthem for us today”.
The 6th Annual Rutgers Unite Half-Marathon & 8k began with a mix of disappointment, relief and a few laughs. Let it be known the national anthem was lovely even without Taylor.…Read More
