The world record for the marathon was broken this weekend as Dennis Kimetto of Kenya ran the 26.2 mile trek faster than anyone ever had. He crossed the tape winning the Berlin Marathon in a time of 2:02:57. To give you a sense of how fast that is: His average pace was 4:41 per mile. And his average 5k pace was 14:34. He edged out fellow countryman Emmanuel Mutai who also broke the prior record. Both men spoke of one day breaking the 2-hour mark, a milestone that was once thought of as unreachable.
Congrats to Dennis, however we bet some young American runner (from NJ) is training hard right now and will shatter all your records someday.
