Pennington 5K. The Perfect Community Race!!!

Perfect!  No other word could describe it. The 38th annual Pennington 5K, sponsored by the Hopewell Valley YMCA and the Municipal Alliance, brought out hundreds of runners, kids and spectators for a perfect run on a perfect day. The day kicked off with a spectacular performance by Pennington’s acapella group, Combrio setting the tone for an unforgettable day. Mayor Anthony Persichilli put it best “Its great weather for a great event. We hope everyone enjoys our little Mayberry community here on Pennington Day.” The runners certainly did enjoy it as the 5k kicked off a full calendar of Pennington Day events including a kid’s race, street fair, tons of vendors, and lots of food. The female champion (and 2nd overall) was Lauren Philbrook, a local runner on hiatus from studying at Penn State. Lauren remarked “Its a great course, with some small rolling hills and lots of people were out cheering.” Doug Pszczolkowski and his team did a flawless job executing the event, which also celebrated the career of Richard Lang, the long time Asst School Superintendent for this wonderful community.  The crowd was certainly full-spirited as their was an eclectic mix of speedy veterans as well as newbie runners as well.
