What do Eli Manning, Mark Bavaro, Lawrence Taylor and the RunJersey.com staff have in common??? They all have had great performances at Giants Stadium. Today marked one of the most memorable races in NJ – and undoubtedly the most memorable finish line.
Thousands of runners packed Giants/Met Life Stadium today for the 3rd Annual Run Of Champions, a 5k that wound it’s way through the parking lots. The last half mile was one for the ages. Runners made a right turn and headed through the tunnel towards the field. The final 100 yards or so sent runners onto the turf where they finished on the goal line. Many runners proudly donned their favorite Giants gear including jerseys, hats, helmets and even carried footballs. The NYRR did a superb job organizing the immense crowd at this fantastic event, which complimented a weekend health and wellness expo in the stadium.
Besides the unforgettable finish line, the race also featured some special guests including legendary Giants Mark Bavaro, Stephen Baker, (former Princeton RB) Keith Elias, Eric Dorsey and Hall of Famer Harry Carson. Stephen Baker (The Touchdown Maker) was not only there as a guest but also participated in the run. Before doing so, he was kind enough to chat with us before the start. When we asked why this race was so special, the former Super Bowl Champ (and Tecmo Bowl legend) simply noted “It’s Giants Stadium. It doesn’t get any better than that!”
